Miller Kendrick are designing a new private house in Gudalur, Theni, India. Gudalur is located in the state of Tamil Nadu, in one of the most fertile valley basins in southern India, surrounded by lush mountains and farm land. Our proposals are for a four bedroom property that is set within a walled courtyard in the centre of the town. A series of internal light-wells will allow light to enter the house which is entirely concealed from the street.
The courtyards provide a green backdrop to the living spaces and downstairs bedroom and a set of private, tranquil spaces in an otherwise densely populated urban area. A generous shaded terrace is provided on the first floor with views north towards the mountains.
